  Question regarding uploading versions of Kirks lessons.

I really didn't know which sub forum to post this so I put it here.

I have a question regarding me uploading some of Kirks lessons to my you-tube and myspace.

Do they have to be played exactly as in the lesson or is there room for a little alteration. For example. Some lessons are quite short and I like to make a video last for at least 1:20 (ish). I can play Rainy Day Waltz but I stop just shy of the finish, repeat then play the finish. It actually sounds really nice this way. Another example would be C Breeze. I like to loop it 2 or 3 times to make it last longer and finish on a C chord strum to give it a definite ending (I don't know how to fade out).

Obviously, any and ALL lessons learned and uploaded would be credited to Kirk as the composer and maybe a link to the lesson itself. I hope this doesn't sound like an unusual question. I simply don't want to do anything inappropriate or break any copyright by "altering" the original somewhat all be it just an extension (by repeating) or an ending.

Many thanks.

Feel free, return2guitar, just so long as you credit me with the composition, I'm don't mind at all, and a link back to the lesson itself would be great too.

I look forward to hearing them.

Will do. I'm still working on it right now. I can play it thru but rarely without an unwanted 'twang' or 'buzz' here or there Grr!

I am going to upload a couple of vids I'v made all be it not perfect when I open a you tube account. One is a shortened version of Paul Simons Anji and the other is a version of Scarborough Fair. Niether are perfect but what the hell right! (-;

That was pretty good R2! It's inspired me to have another look at Rainy Day Waltz - so many things around to learn and I never practice any of them so they're good enough to record before I move on to another one - a very bad habit, I'm sure!

Anji is not an easy piece either - you did well.

Absolutely. I can relate to this. It's very easy to want to clock up how many pieces you know yet not be able to actually play any of them! I deliberately slowed down and practiced the pieces I do know to be able to upload a recorded video. While they're far from perfect, for me they are an accomplishment.

Many thanks. I have since rearranged how it's played in places but I'm happy enough with that for now. It's shortened, I like my vids to last 60-90 seconds or so no longer.

Thx for the compliments

Nice one, R2G, it's always a pleasure to hear my compositions played by someone else and you've done a great job.
