  Hey Kirk!!!

After closely watching your movie on the Bluesy style chord progression, I really think I've found what I'm doing incorrectly concerning my finger-style learning journey.
What I've noticed is I (was) "pinching" out the melody for lack of a better term. I clearly see now where I was goofing-up. I'm now striving to get this "new feel" with that walking bass line alternating with the (now 3-finger melody).
I just wanna say thanks for posting that. It popped the little light -bulb on in my head. I'm gonna keep working on it. When I catch my self falling back into my Pinch Habit, I stop and start over...The (correct ) way as you've shown.

You have no idea how that little movie just helped me...Thanks Kirk.

PS: Have great time at the Festival!!!

Garry

What a great little 'humbler' this lesson is. Simple enough chords that i've used for ages but when I tried to play them exactly as written, cleanly and in time on my acoustic, I had to really slow right down and think about what I was doing. Good practice and boy, do I need it!

Had to laugh when I got to the F# 'bits' and my thumb went straight to the bass notes. Then I remembered the recent discussion about that and used the great barre which worked better here anyway. Then I went back and had another look at the movie ..... duh! Good one Kirk

John

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
