  Way back when lesson

Hi all. New to this so apologies if this question has been asked before or if it actually makes any sense.
There is a harmonic'y sound in the middle of the third bar somewhere that i just cant replicate, and thats the bit i like.
Would be great if i could find out how.
Great site by the way.............
Cheers,

Andy Mac

Hi, Andy ... I had a listen for that, couldn't really hear anything like a harmonic. I certainly didn't play anything unusual in that bar, might just be the recording.

Hi there. I'm blown away to get a response so quickly, and from the horses mouth (maybe an English expression),

The not i'm looking for is in the third bar and sounds when you detail the first lone (2). The sound is that of a 7th fretted top (thinnest) E string.

Any advices would be greatly received.

Only bad financial timing is preventing me from subscribing. I love the site. Thank you.

I don't hear anything odd either, Andy.

But....I had a go at that lesson and was surprised that the big stretch at the second half of bars 5, 6,and 7 wasn't discussed in the lesson blurb. Then I looked again at the video, and - even more confusing - Kirk doesn't do a big stretch at all!

Finally, the penny dropped - that is what Kirk must be refering to as the 'going to the upper string frets first' instead of the bass notes first. What I hadn't realised is that you have to get from the

------------ ----------------------------------- --------------
----------- ------ to the ---1--- followed by the ----------0--
-----------0-- -------------------------------- --------2----
-------4----- ----off------------------------- ------0-------
----3--------- --off------------------------- --------------
-------------- ----------------------------- ----2-----------

and do it seamlessly. I was trying to do the 'holding down the arpeggiated chord all at once' thing - which is quite a stretch and then trying to get to the D7. But you don't need to. I'm still working on the Kirk way since my way did not work out so well - no surprises there!
