  Inspiration!

Kirk, I'll always say it. You're one of the finest players and teachers to have come along in a long time. I could kick myself every time I either here you play or hear you teach a lesson, because I often wish that I had had a teacher like you when I was just starting out. It takes real skill to play the way you do, but it also takes the same kind of skill, to teach in a way that helps your students to really learn! You come across as very down to earth and very genuine Kirk and you just cannot fake that and in my humble opinion, that's what makes you the fine player and teacher that you are.

I'm just glad that I happened on your incredible site a few lucky years ago and have since, had the priveledge of continueing to learn from you. I sincerely put you up there with only the very best! As I've mentioned to you before, I've played and taught professionally for many years, but I continue to learn something new from you every time I visit your site. I don't mean to go on so, It's just that when I'm excited about something, I usually have the need to share that excitement with everyone. When I hear you play, what I call the 4 Ts come to mind which are: touch, taste, tone and timing. Oh and let's add style to the mix.

I've had the good fortune of learning from many fine players througout the years and for that I'm very grateful, but I'll always count you as one of the best teachers and players that I've continued to learn from. I have no doubt, that there are many out there who feel the very same way that I do, beginner and beyond. You just continue to inspire and in the end, that's really what it's all about. Inspiration! Thanks for continuing to inspire this picker and I'm sure a whole new generation of pickers, year after year. Peace and continued success!

Hi, Augustine, and thanks so much for your post. I really do love to pass on as much as I can about music and playing the guitar, and to to get such nice feedback from a guitar teacher makes it all worthwhile. I think perhaps the fact that I'm self taught and still don't know 'theory' in the conventional way or notation lets me express what I do know in a way that's easier to understand than other more orthodox ways. But, thanks for telling me here.

How's Barstow? I can see that town so clear in my mind even though I only spent one night.

Well said Augustine, I couldn't agree more.

And I add my own thanks too.
