  sweeping the strings

Can anyone suggest to me how to sweep the strings like Kirk does at the beginnng of Capo Lane? I tried with no success, so I was hoping maybe there's a method that I don't know about. HELP??
Thanks, Hopeful

I'm not an expert, but here's what I know. Anyone can do it. I remember having problems when I learnt it. Recently I changed to lefty, and I can do it lefty now too.

Try putting all the fingers (right hand) on the strings you are going to sweep. Press down a bit. Then roll your fingers off in sequence (thumb first) in a press down/rolling/lift of the whole hand - peeling the fingers off each string in sequence. Do it lots of times. You'll suddenly find you can do it, sort of. After more practice it will be easy. I promise!

That's basically it, Carol.

hopeful, there's no method for these little tricks really, you just have to keep working at it, experimenting, fiddling around until you reproduce the sound you want to hear. Once you get it, then you need to do several thousand times before it's 'yours' to use whenever you want ... without thinking about it.

I don't think so, h_i ... I'm assuming you mean with a flat pick. This is done with successive thumb and fingers, one at a time, rather than the one pick sweeping through the strings.

Sweep picking has made its way into fingerstyle music...

When I sweep my strings I use my nails for harmonics's and they sound very cool..

I just make the letter C shape with my right hand then straighten out my fingers with a certain bit of finase.

Slide $27-$50
New strings $4-$6
New Cord $45
