Slide string set up
Kirk,
I know you use .16 on up for your slide string set up. Do you use flat wound or round wound? Straight electric or Acoustic electric strings? I am having a hard time finding those size strings to buy. Right now using .12 on up and sounds a bit thin.

I use round wound, too2tall, just normal strings, acoustic for the resonator, electric for the Strat. I normally buy an .18 separately and use the B string (which is a .16 in the sets I buy) for the E, the .18 for the B string and the rest as normal. I wind up with a bunch of .12s that rust away on the shelf.

Kirk,
Thanks for the info. Just got through watching your slide DVD and it was awesome. Really accelerated the learning curve. Can't wait to get home each day and practice, practice, practice.

No, eddie, I stay in standard or drop the low E down to D (Dropped D). I never play in open tunings anymore.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
