Good blues number there.

I notice you use a metal slide. I like glass better because it's easier to control the weight of it, especially on lighter gage strings.

I can't find the right slide anywhere in glass. I want a small diameter relatively short glass slide (16 mm ID x 40 mm long). Do you have any suggestions?

You get a great sound. That lesson reminds me of ZZ Top's "Lagrange" -- fits quite well for that song.

I see your metal slide gives it an electric "table saw" kind of a sound like George Thouroughgood (it sounds good). I've tried metal slides but they wants to clang against the strings and make my pinkie tired. I'm using 9 gage strings.

Glass is a lot easier for me to control because it's so light. Just a personal preference I suppose. I've had a few of each (glass and metal).

Should I see a glass blower to make a slide for me? I like them small short and thin walled.

I had a custom leaded glass slide made as close as possible to the specs of Kirks brass slide. I still like the brass best. Light strings for slide are a lot tougher to play but, then I wouldn't have 9s on any guitar of mine anyway. They sound like anemic mosquitoes unless you bury them in pedals and effects.

Hendrix used 10s tuned down to Eb. Better for bending.

Also, with a good hollowbody guitar, made out of a super resonate wood like limba, I get all the tone I need to cut through the mix. I have a Hamer Newport Korina Pro. It's a dead ringer for the blues. It has SD Seth Lover P/ups.

My Koch multitone is the best sounding clean amp I've ever heard:

You're right. I went to a heavier brass slide, and I wear it on my ring finger. I have the pinkie and middle finger on either side and this keeps the slide firmly in place.

I notice your slide playing is very clean and you have the slide on the pinkie.

My slide teacher advised me to use the ring finger for better control of the slide. Duanne Alman Used the ring-finger as you can see in the picture below.

It seems a lot of the pinkie-slide players get clanging and banging noises when they move quickly, and some of them are extremely good players with professional recordings.

You have managed to overcome that issue from what I can hear.

I notice Bonnie Raitt uses a slide on her middle finger. To each their own I suppose.

Yes, to each our own. I like the pinkie because it allows me to use the other fingers as normal so I do a lot of playing 'behind' the slide. Those who use their index or middle can play 'in front' of slide ... they all have their advantages and disadvantages, I suppose.

I do like the way you've taken the "rattle, knock, and thump" out of your pinkie slide playing. I wouldn't say it unless I meant it.

I've heard superb slide-players that still have issues with clunking "background noises".
