This should be a very cool forum to check out. I'm not really at the point yet where I can contribute much to a collaboration (skill-wise), but it's sure a great way to get ideas and inspiration!

Ok so i got no idea how this is intended to work (its my attention to detail that people notice the most about me), but figure ill kick things in the guts....
Les, you were talking in the intro forum a few days ago, about posting a recording of a Lightfoot tune about "a big lake they call Gitche Gumee", if you know the one, im not much of an ear player, but ive had a look at a few tabs, and reckon ill have a crack at any of the guitar parts, even the bass, if i can find tabs for it, as for singing, well ill leave that to the professional.... If your not interested by no means be scared to tell me to bog off (im used to it ) if you are, ill get stuck into doin some learnin

The song that references "Gitche Gumee" is "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". No doubt a classic Lightfoot tune and probably that which has made GL as famous as he is, next to Sundown and Canadian Railroad Trilogy.
The song I had originally thought of was "Couchiching" from GL's last album, Harmony.
The Wreck, is a fairly simple tune. It's rather long at six and a half minutes. And while the melody is haunting and the words incredibly as well as impeccably written, there is little room for extraneous guitar work.
But I'm good to go on the acoustic 12 and vocals and/or harmonies. If RB could step up to the plate with his lap steel that would be very cool. Electic guitars could trade licks between the verses. Just a note though, the GL band used a synth on this tune but I'm sure our combined musical prowess could remedy that. RB's good with drum tracks too!
Beats per minute @ 92/93.
If any one wants to co-lab on The Wreck and needs to hear the song, PM me and I'll put up a special link to it.

Whoops Sorry Les, The Wreck, was the one i was talking about. My mistake.
I could only find tabs for the main lick in between the verses, i couldnt find anything with the fills under the verses. But regardless, ive decided to have a crack at it myself , so, im more than happy to take orders on this one

My thinking is that when someone has a particular song they want to collab on, they can start a new thread with the song title, then in the body of the post they can flesh out what they are planning to do and what they need others to help on. From that point, it's a matter of private messaging, emails, etc. to get it done from there.
Now that we have a collab forum, guess I'd better think of something to collab on, huh?

Just a side note ... GL almost always capo's on two.
And if anyone is a Light-head ...
