  Country anyone?

Had to do a little re-write and cut out 4 verses {still quite long} the original lyrics are over in "songwriting". If any of you country singers/twangers find it enjoyable or just want a challenge I'd be glad to send you the BT/tracks I made for this, I know it could be so much better with some talent {PM me if your interested...Thanks}

Here's my sad attempt and the lyrics used in it...

Attachment 7555

Silently he rode to town, like a ghost against the sky
He cast an evil shadow, some folks were gonna die
Revenge had taken hold of him, and settled in his eyes

It had only been a day now, since he laid her in the ground
her son wrapped in her arms so tight, same way they were found
Tied against his leg now , was his friend the "Devil's Hound"

The devil's hound you see, was an old Colt 45
A trusted friend who more than once, helped him stay alive
He could feel his fingers tingle, he could sense their speed revive

He slid off of the saddle, onto the dusty street
Tied his horse up in the shade yeah, to avoid the mid-day heat
Then he called the Johnson boys out, for their maker they shall meet

"We're on our way" They hollered back, "the fun's about to start"
See joy to them was killing, cold blood ran thru their hearts
Out thru the swinging doors, went Joe, Frank, Clyde, and Bart

Clyde being the oldest, said "Boy's, this one is mine"
The stranger softly said "Y'All at once will be just fine"
He looked them in the eyes and said "Boys It's the end of the line"

Tension grew as thick as mud, you could cut it with a knife
The stranger smiled tipped his hat, said "Say goodbye to life"
I swear I saw him wink and say, "this one's for my wife"

Frank Joe and Bart now, fell dead without much sound
and Clyde stood in-disbelief, his empty shells on the ground
Standing so defenseless, against the devil's hound

The stranger said "don't worry, for I have saved you one"
"But don't think that this favor, makes up for damage done"
As he blew half of Clyde's face off, he said "That one's for my son"

The Devil's Hound had one more job, onto his knees he fell
He made a cross like gesture, towards the churches bell
"I'll be home in a moment love", I still have one more shell"

Kenny,
I am logged in and have already posted some replies, but every time I want to down load the mp3 it wants me to re-log in.
The lyrics are good, tells the story well. It would be nice to hear the take.

Kenny,
I have no idea why it happens, and has happen more than once.
The site keeps asking for a login even though I am.
None the less. I think the tune came out very well. your vocals as well.

The lyrics are impressive kenny, and your vocals fit the tune good. The only thing i think you can try (and i think i said it before) is a chourus. Could even be only 2 lines, of course the way you have is ok and sounds good

Hey X4 - I made an E blues out of this and added my version to the songwriting forum, using these lyrics. I like this one a lot.

That was great JD, I left my comments over there

Thanks Tom, that's my hard to conquer hurdle, words seem easy enough to come by, but that "hook" eludes me maybe I'm destined to be a story teller more than a lyricist

I know you've said before that country wasn't really your thing, but you really seem to flourish when you do a country tune. Your vocals are outstanding in this song. I could hear every word and the lyrics are great too. Very impressive.

I don't know how you come up with so many songs so quickly. Seems to take me months to get a song recorded.

Keep it up!

Nutty

Thanks Nutty, try not to spread that around please, don't want to damage this rocker image I've got....LOL
Don't know if you've seen it, but I have mentioned in here before about how I was brought up in a country music only setting and it must be in my blood. Thanks for the vox comments, I seem to notice that I used way to much fx on them, though that may be just me..some of the words seem distorted like an old tape that drags.

In answer to your "so quickly" question...You use skills, I cheat and use biab..hopefully only temporarily...keep up with what you've been doing, I've noticed a lot of improvement in your recordings recently, Kudo's to you!
