  I Believe in Love

This came into my mind today for no apparent reason. I haven't given it much thought and have no guitar progression. It feels to me like an 'up' rocker anthem. If anyone wants to have a go at putting it to music, please feel free. Suggestions about improvements also welcome. It's nothing profound, a 'belter' maybe...or anything you want it to be.

As always, if anyone wants to have a go at using it, changing it or adding to it, I regard it as a complement......no-matter what it sounds like

I Believe in Love.

It don’t matter what you do -
It don’t matter where you look -
There are always the one’s
Don’t give a hoot –
-Just as soon use you
Then give you the boot.

But...
I believe in love
No matter what they say
I do - (yeah)...
I hurt, I fall
I don’ learn at all –
I believe in love..
Yeah! ...

Everyone knows the feel of love -
One day down, the next day up
Is this the one?
Will this one last?
Or more of the same
Like in the past?

But...
I believe in love
No matter what they say
I do - yeah!
I hurt, I fall
I don’t learn at all –
I believe in love
Yeah! –

Add riffs, solos etc and repeat as fits your time available. The 'Yeah's' of course are entirely optional.

One good thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain - Bob Marley

Hi Carol, agree with you this would make a good rock song, messed around with the first verse hope it's ok, you could probably double up on the Yeah's too will suit the song, nice song.

It don’t matter what you do
Don’t matter where you look
There are always the one’s
That are on the make
Take what they want
Just leave a heartache

What do you think?

Great lyrics. I love the tune Chris. I looked at the lyrics quickly and I had other ideas come to mind. But then I listened to what you have and I think it would work very well.

Are you going to sing to it Chris? I'd love to hear it.

What ideas have you got Nutty, Carol hasn't heard this yet so it's all up in the air and I'd love to hear you singing again it's been too long

Best Wishes

Chris

It has been a while, but I've been pretty sick since the end of May.\

Anyway, the lyrics drew my attention and I quickly put together a version. Sort of Carole King like.

I could probably do a quick and dirty recording of it (before I forget it) LOL.

It is interesting to have the two different takes of the same lyrics.

Sorry to hear you've been ill Nutty how are things for you now? always love hearing your songs and it would be great to hear your take on this sounds good and like you say it's good to see how different people approach a song makes songwriting a lot more fun when you can hear different interpretations of a song

Best Wishes

Chris

I did a quick and dirty recording, but my DAW only saves as a RIFF Wav file and I can't find a converter that will recognize it. My daughter is bugging me to go to bed because they start school tomorrow. She has to get me into bed (due to my illness).

I think my version has potential. It's very rough right now, but it's an idea to work on. So, I'll have to post tomorrow. If anyone knows of a converter I could use, please let me know CDex is supposed to work but I can't figure out how to load the file. Teckie challenged here.

Anyway, I catch up with you tomorrow. And I would love to hear the lyrics for your tune Chris!

What a surprise! I checked out this thread thinking no-one would have noticed it yet (or passed on to more promising threads) and...WOW. I love it Chris. Found myself humming along to your BT. I've only listened once, but I plan to grab my guitar and have a strum right now.

And Nutty wants to have a go too! GFB is just great - I still can't get over the fact that we chat and collaborate around the globe in almost real time.

I'm happy with your edit to verse 1 Chris. I knew there was a problem with the last 4 lines (out of 6 ) but didn't stop to work on them. Your rewrite works perfectly. Thanks.

I started with feeling happy (Spring in the air perhaps?) the title, then the first 2 lines... and the rest just happened. Yeah!

Maybe I should cut down on my 'happy pills' or I could swing into 'mania'...... and I'm completely out of 'downers'.

Fire away Nutty. Chop, change, complete rewrite, or something entirely new, it's all fine with me. I like the Carole King type idea too. I agree that several completely different versions coming out of the original idea is great. More than I could hope for really. Thanks guys and gals.

I could easily have not posted this and put it in my Lyrics to Work On Folder. (I have lots of others but I really must practice more ). Oh yes, and do some work.

Hi Carol, Turn your back for a minute and 2 songs breakout glad you like the lyric change, I went to close my studio last night then thought about this song and thought I'd spend a minute checking out a tune, after I posted I tried a bit of vocals and didn't get to bed till 4.30 am got a bit carried away.
Anyway, I'll have a go at some vocals today if that's ok I'll have to drop a couple of octaves, could do with a couple of backing singers on the chorus and a hot lead guitarist for some riffs, any volunteers, do you want to add some guitar to this as well Carol (and or Vocals )

All the Best

Chris

Don't wait for me Chris. I have to do 'stuff' unrelated to GFB and then try to set up my latest Digitech toy. I have your backing track and may see if a melody line shouts at me. If it does it would be different to yours anyway so no clash of projects as far as I'm concerned.

BTW getting to bed before 2am is becoming increasingly difficult - not complaining though! -getting carried away with something is something many people never experience, so I count myself as lucky.

Ok Carol, I agree, the guitar started out as a hobby but with the recording coming on board it's become a way of life, thought I'd post the BT in backing tracks to see if I can get a lead guitarist, what do you think?
