Original song

Here is the chorus...I'm thinking the key of D, but I can't seem to come up with a chord progression that fits.

The last note of the vocal ended on an F#. But that doesn't matter.

As for a chord progression, it could go any where you want it. What genre are you shooting for? Bluegrass? Country? Folkie? Try slowing the vocal down and note your vocal lines on the guitar. See where they go in its current form. Find your root and go from there.

Basically lines 1 & 3 are the same and 2 and 4 sounded the same melodically. Try changing the melody a bit more. Go high on the second line to emphasize "stars" and "sky". Perhaps go a bit lower on the third line to bring out the "mountains crumble". This will give you more notes to work your chords with.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
