Hi these are some lyrics and chords for the Song on the wind tune posted by Dewy, we have a few guys on board Dewy, Windsong, X4string and other members helping us along, the song still needs some work so we're throwing it open to the forum for ideas, all members are welcomed with open arms

SONG ON THE WIND

................G.........................C....... ...............
We're going cruising in Fort Lauderdale

Head'n down t a bar I know

..............G..........................C........ ..............
She's on my bike and truck'n with me

.............G...................D7............... G............
Head'n toward the Elbo Room I see

............G.............................C....... ..............
The drinks are there and all lined up

...........G..................D7............G..... ............
For my band my sweetheart and me

( short lead guitar solo )

...........G..............................C....... .............
It's good to get out on the open road

...........G............................D7........ ............
Ride'n through the cool evening breeze

...........G.............................C........ ...........
The moon's out and so bright

............D7.......................G............ ..........
And to have my sweetheart with me

...........G........................C............. .........
I hear a SONG ON THE WIND

Wave's crash'n from within

Just so there's no confusion Chris, this link is showing{& playing} the other chord progression, we're going to keep going in that direction with it over there. In this new thread, we're going to change the style{more country} and stay with the progression you and Windsong have put together and posted here...hope we're on the same but different page all together now

I'll try and get a couple of percussion patterns done so we can choose what everyone thinks will work best for this....see ya soon

No worries Kenny, I wasn't entirely sure what was going on to be honest but I remember now Windsong mentioning something about Country in his original PM, I sent him another set of lyrics for the other tune as I wasn't too sure if the above lyrics would fit with Dewy's progression as it's more blues than country, the lyrics make more sense now I know it's a straight country tune so I'll see if I can sharpen them up a bit. My mind was on how the lyrics would fit with Dewys tune as well, I'd be interested to see if they will, they look like two different songs to me.
Thanks for clearing that up Kenny there was a bit of confusion there on my part hope you're having fun with the music

Song on the Wind (rewrite)

This is a rewrite of the song with a chorus and some more verses, still got to work out the rest of the chords and the break, apologies for my first post, a definite candidate for worst proof reader of the year

Verse 1

I hear a song on the wind calling out to me
Gonna pack my guitar rev. up the old Harley
My sweetheart wants to come along
She jumps on the back and we're moving on

Verse 2

................G.........................C....... ...............
We're going cruising in Fort Lauderdale

...............G..........................D7...... ..............
Just got my pay check arrived in the mail

..............G........................C.......... ...............
Got my Harley kick'n and a place to go

..............D7......................G........... ..............
We're Head'n down to a bar we know

Chorus

Theres a song on the wind, calling out to me
Gonna head for the place where there's melody
With a guitar by my side, my sweetheart on the back
The engines purring and were right on track

Verse 3

...........G..............................C....... .............
It's good to get out on the open road

...........G............................D7........ ............
Ride'n through the warm summer breeze

...........G.............................C........ ...........
With the sun shining on us and the future bright

............D7.......................G............ ..........
Got the feeling it's gonna be a special night

Verse 4

We love the Elbo Room the feelings right
You can play guitar or just kick off your shoes
We'll meet the band check the sound is tight
Later on we'll play some Country, Blues

Chorus

Theres a song on the wind, calling out to me
Gonna head for the place where there's melody
With a guitar by my side, my sweetheart on the back
The engines purring and were right on track

What do you think guys are we getting somewhere

Cheers

Chris

Good going Chris, now we may just get somewhere, the confusion between them both was a bit of "hairpulling" trying to keep straight. This will work fine now as Dewy's original riff won't have to change and we'll get a second chance at possibly embarrassing ourselves{lol}.

Windsong, get that Tele twanged up, we're gonna need it on this ...I hope to have something to get us underway today or tomorrow.

Great Kenny, thanks for having a look, everything's a bit clear now I feel like we've turned a corner, I was going to have my haircut but I don't need to now, I've got some more lyrics which I'll put on the other thread, good to hear from you, I want to hear the Tele in action as well perfect for this

The Elbo room has a long history, think it's been going for over sixty years.
What's a haircut Windsong I truthfully haven't had a haircut for two years but Bandanas quite suit me now, all I need is a Harley to complete the image

Windsong and I have been messing around with the lyrics and here are some more verses, I'm not too sure about verse 4, what do you think Windsong, all thoughts welcome guys

Song on the wind

Verse 1

I hear a song on the wind calling out to me
Gonna pack my guitar rev. up the Harley
My sweetheart wants to come along
She jumps on the back and we're moving on

Verse 2

We're going cruising in Fort Lauderdale
Just got my pay check arrived in the mail
Got my Harley kick'n and a place to go
We're Head'n down to a bar we know

Chorus

Theres a song on the wind, calling out to me
Gonna head for the place where there's melody
With my sweetheart behind me, guitar on her back
The engine is purring and we're right on track

Verse 3

It's good to get out on the open road
Ride'n through the warm summer breeze
With the sun shining on us and the future bright
Got the feeling it's gonna be a special night

Verse 4

We love the Elbo Room the feelings right
You can play guitar or just kick off your shoes
We'll meet the band check the sound is tight
Later on we'll play some Country, Blues

Chorus

Theres a song on the wind, calling out to me
Gonna head for the place where there's melody
With my sweetheart behind me, guitar on her back
The engines is purring and we're right on track

Verse 5

Well the Elbo Room's packed the bands all here
Got to get on that stage sorry my dear
There's smoke in the air and the lights are dim
Time now for the band to begin

Verse 6

There's a song in the wind floating out from the bar
The heavenly sound of an old blues guitar
We're playing our hearts out the feeling is right
The Elbo room is rockin' tonight

End

When I hear a song on the wind calling to me
I head for the place where there's melody
With my sweetheart behind me we hit the street
Open the throttle and follow the beat

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

verse 4 does seem to give me a question (is it ok or do we change it some) maybe if we all work on it and change it a little it will come out fine. You mention you would like to change the tempo on the chorus. Sounds great. I can hear them Harley's all cranked up!

Hi Windsong, I think we should change it, that first line doesn't sit right, I think you mentioned this verse last week it is one of mine, you did have concerns about it, it's your call on the tempo, we need a tune sample now to move things along if if you're happy with the song, are you happy with the ending Windsong did that last night. The video shoot for a song like this would be cool, beautiful girls, Harleys, beer and music, the perfect recipe for a great day

Hi Starsailor

Well it's really neat that we always agree to changes and they seem to come along just fine. I'll work on that verse #4, should have something by tomorrow. The idea of having the chorus change its tempo I think is a good idea. Well we are getting there, kind of fun isnt it?

Ok verse 4 well still working on that one

verse 1 I changed it a bit I did move the tempo up some, kind of gave it a faster country rock feeling

I hear a Song on the Wind calling out to me
Gonna pack my guitar crank up that Harley
Got my sweetheart to truck along
She hops on the back and we're head'n on

small change here also Chorus (1)

There's a Song on the Wind calling out to me
Gonna head for the place where there's melody
With my sweetheart behind me guitar on her back
The engine's crank'n and we're right on track

Well hope to get some suggestions from other members, see what happens. I'll get back with that verse 4, it's a stickler
