The Fear Within Revisited
This is a song I put on a few months ago, thought I'd put it on again, had a tune for it but could do with a bit more inspiration, Hilch posted a tune that might fit into the chorus in the thread "Something," if anyone wants to have a go at this feel free, it's about stage fright which I have a problem with and others may have too
THE FEAR WITHIN
V1
It’s really quite a feeling
When I play guitar
But my nerves are gonna stop me
Being a Star
When I take to the stage
All I can see
Is a crowd of people that won’t like me
I don’t know what to do
How can I get through
chorus
I’m like a rabbit in the headlights
Am I going insane
I’m trying to sing
Through the fear and pain
Stage frights hardly an original sin
But I just can’t cope with the fear within
No I just can’t cope with the fear within
V2
The crowd are waiting to decide my fate
But I just stand there in a frozen state
As I stare out at the audience
My sense of fear makes no sense
I know I can sing and I know I can play
But the sense of fear won’t go away
Need to look for clues
I can’t sing the blues
Chorus
If I’m a rabbit in the headlights
And I’m going insane
Trying to sing through the fear and pain
Stage frights hardly an original sin
But how can I cope with the fear within
I just can’t cope with the fear within
V3
Well I need to sing before it gets too late
Need to conquer the shakes
And the fast pulse rate
Stage fright seems to be
A funny mindset
My brains trying to stop me
Getting where I wanna get
Now I can start to see
That I don’t want to be
Chorus
A rabbit in the headlights
Going insane
Trying to sing through the fear and pain
Stage frights got my mind in a spin
But I can fight the fear within
Yeah I can fight the fear within
V4
If I relax my thoughts I’ll be fine soon
I can feel the music and I know I’m in tune
If I play from the heart dry the sweat and the tears
I know I’m good to forget those fears
And as I look at the crowd and I sing my song
It’s a great relief when they sing along
Now I’m feeling strong
I can do no wrong
Chorus to end
And I’m no rabbit in the Headlights
I’ve no fear and pain
I can play my songs again and again
Fears just part of the human race
A game our mind plays that we have to face
If we believe in ourselves and we want to win
Then we can say goodbye to the fear within
Yeah we can say goodbye to the fear within
Play out
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Hey, good lyrics. I'll try to get music to it soon. Someone else will have to sing...

Thanks Tsidewinder, look forward to hearing you, appreciate your input
The tune Hilch put on inspired me to put the song back on, so give that a listen.

It is a bit of a nightmare Lugnut, be great if you can do something with the song and if it's theraputic even better, thanks for having a look.
Cheers

Starsailor,
Good job with the lyrics, I think that it speaks to a lot of us that have that insecurity of playing in front of a crowd. Sounds like Trev's chord progression will fit nicely.

Thanks for having a look Knight, messing around with it at the moment among other things, still trying to get the hang of recording but it's starting to make sense, just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to have a go.

sorry I'm taking so long starsailor. I've got lots of ideas, but I'm not satisfied with any of them. I'll keep trying.

No worries tsidewinder it's not easy working with someone elses lyrics and it's a whole different discipline than learning a song, I thought Hilch's tune would work in the chorus but it's up as a collaboration so do whatever you want to, I do have a tune for this but like I said I thought it could be better, if you want any of the chords I'll post them, if I can figure out how to convert my WAV files I can post a rough version of the song, I'm using Reaper, Knight46 found a way of pasting the DLL from Lame onto Reaper but I couldn't get that to work, I'll have to pop in the Home Studio thread again, I would ask Tekker but he's having a bit of a Nightmare with a soundcard, so take your time as none of us are going anywhere

Starsailor,
What folder did you use for the lame.dll? I ended up putting it into two or three places before I got it to work.

Hi Knight46, I went to render then pasted the DLL when reaper requested what I would like to use, if you could tell me which folder you put it into I could try that, like you say I might have to try a few before I get it right, I was going to use Audacity and use your method if all else failed. Thanks for responding Knight appreciated, I might spend the evening going through the Reaper Manual again, I think perfecting recording could be harder than learning guitar but it's good fun playing around with the effects

Starsailor,
I put the lame.enc.dll file in both the Main Reaper Folder and in the Plugins folder, not sure which worked but now I can go to preference's and tell it to save to mp3 format.
Hope this helps.

Hi Knight46, I put the lame dll in the plugins folder and scrolled down to consolidate track in the file menu and it's converting files perfectly, all I need to do now is get the hang of Recording, Songwriting, playing Guitar, and singing and I'll be sorted thanks for helping me out Knight you're a star
Cheers
Chris
