Free for all- Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Here's one that we can get a ton of people involved. I'll take the helm on this one. Over the next few days I'll get to work on doing some drums and basic rhythm guitar. I'll extend it out pretty far so as many people that want to take part will be able. I would like to get vocals on this- any volunteers? We could actually get multiple people to do the vocals, taking turns on verses, harmonies on the chorus, etc.

I'll post detailed instructions, etc. when I post the base track to play along to.

Any takers?

Classic!

I`ll have a go at some vocals - backing or harmonies as well as some guitar if you like - maybe a verse. What key is it going to be in?

It`d be interesting if we got a few people having a go at singing - probably have an interesting mix of accents and styles.

Count me in. Vocal, guitar, banjo, might even pull out the dulcimers ....whatever flys.

Accent? Everything I do begins with a Southern accent.

I'm looking forward to hearing this! Someone should try an Axl Rose sound, someone else a Dylan sound, someone else a Clapton sound, all over the map, but good fun. But Avril Lavigne recorded a version of this too, so y'all should skip that one!

Sounds like it would be a fun project! I'll see what I can lend along the way.

OK- here's a little update.
I've got a drum track put together and will hopefully have the bass and a guitar track laid down soon. I will probably also have a vocal track in there to act as a director to indicate where verses are, chorus, etc. I suspect that I'll probably have something ready to go in the next week.

I'll post detailed recording instructions when I post the primary track. Until then........

I would encourage slide on this tune. It begs for a slide.

Id like to volunteer for the first "lead" (right after the first chorus and before the second verse.) the second I believe is a little complicated for slide.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
