Lets hear it for the noob's
Ok noob's
Any other noob's feel like pushing the boat out and see what we come up with? I am kind of thinking that a noob in this case would be under 18 months of playing or even someone playing longer but might lack a bit of confidence or if you feel better suited with likes of my crap playing over Cshude, RockerBob, Icjones and GT to name a few of the greats on here.
I think most of us noobs are into blues so again maybe lets try something bluesy in "E" as in easyer than the rest.
Again lets build this from the ground up so we would need for starters:
Drums
Bass line
Lead Guitar
Rhythm Guitar
Acoustic rhythm Guitar
Singers
Home recording guru
Horn Section (I can but try)
Sax (hmmmm I really am pushing now)
Cheerleaders (doesnt have to be noob's)
Motivators
This will be a mellow collab with a view of pushing ourselves a little bit further so let me know if you are up for it.

Hey Kris, me and blues havent gone down well in the past, so perhaps this'd help me out, with getting into it.
So,
Bass line - I have looked into a bit of walking bass lines, so im happy to have a go at that
Lead Guitar - dont like my chances of being overly creative there, but im game to try
Rhythm Guitar - Ok
Acoustic rhythm Guitar - Ok
Home recording guru - Ok
Cheerleaders (doesnt have to be noob's) - Ill have to see if my outfit still fits from highschool, but provided it does, ok
I may be able to help out lyrically too, perhaps, perhaps not too..
So Im game.
*Addendum* To the stifler's for correctness, the cheerleader bit, twas a joke. Just in case ya'll were wonderin

Good on you Matty, I will drop you a note over the weekend.
Do you have a preference on any of the parts?

Ok Matty
I thinks so far what would be cool is that we would do a rhythm each and a lead each, so say when its my rhythm its your lead and visa versa. If anyone else comes on board then the same for them.
What BPM are you comfortable with, how about 113 to 120?
I shall send out a drum and bass to all on Sunday and say a week or play around and see where we are going.

I'm willing to give it a try Kris, although acoustic rhythm with a little fingerpickin is probably my limit.
I'm just off to pick up a set of drums my daughter has had sitting rusting in her garage for the last couple of years, but it could be a while before I am any use on them.
Cheers

Hi all,
I'd sure like to at least be clapping from the grandstand.
But maybe I can join in too, in some fashion? I'm certainly noobish enough.. I've been fiddling around with guitar for about 18 months, in a very messy and inconsistent sort of way, and I'd really like to give myself a kick in the pants and get a bit more serious.
My one and only attempt at recording anything that had anything as complicated as actual 'tracks' on it was a simple Blues shuffle. I was quite proud of the chord changes and so on. But when I attempted a solo over the top ( I don't normally solo, just muck around with chords) I did an appalling job on the mix and you can't really hear the chord work anyway...
Here it is - dumped on my web space. Crude attempt at Blues Shuffle
Maybe we could take it nice and slow, rather than tryng to rush towards a finished product? Spend a few days on each track, discussing the options and trying out what works?
I can have a crack at lyrics too. Here's a half done attempt at a blues 'send-up' with a spoken comment drawled after each verse:
New Railroad Blues
1.
Went down to the railroad track,
To try and get my baby back…. Oh yeah.. ( short harmonica howl..)
There she was tied to the rails
Man you should have heard her wails ( more woebegone harmonica noises..)
(Spoken) Tricky situation. ….hmmmm… (nice bendy lead break)
2.
She screamed “you idiot, cut me free -
Can’t you see what that psycho did to me” (high pitched screech from female backing voice)
I said “Now girl just stop yo’ fuss…
You shoulda listened to me – and taken the bus…”
(Spoken) Dangerous places railroad stations – full o’ riff raff… (more wailing lead break… )
3.
“Please hurry ” she sobbed “you’re my only hope..”
But, dammit, it looked like expensive rope….
You don’t waste cord that you could use again.
While I studied the knots – whoops, here come da train…
(Spoken) Darn it.. wrong choice …. Very messy situation…
SMALL PAUSE
Restart in high sad voice:
4.
Ain’t go no baby now… I need a new honey….
She died on the track, still owin’ me money..
Waaaa waaaa, etc.
Well.... at least the colour was right for the blues...
I don't actually think they are quite what we're looking for here though. Maybe Peter's lyrics? Or would it be better to do the music first and come up with lyrics later in the process? My guess is that it's not easy for noobs to make the music fit a set of pre-done lyrics. Shouldn't be quite so hard to come up with words once we've got a workable piece of music together though.
Cheers,
Chris

Would it be possible to post it here please, instead of just sending it to the eventual players?
I'm sure that there'd be a few of us who would like to mess around with it, and try and keep pace with various stages of the project, even if we don't put anything on the final cut. Just sort of 'ghost along' in the background. Maybe even post some efforts in the hope of getting tips about how to improve and get closer to what's needed?
Would that be possible, or would it be too distracting from the main object?
Cheers,
Chris

I agree - it'd be nice to have it posted here. I don't know that I could contribute to every collab, but one might come along here and there that I could add something useful to. It'd be nice to at least be able to download it from here and have a go at it.

I've never tried this but it sounds like fun, all i could contribute is an unpluged acoustic though. Also i don't know if my recording gear is at the same level as others i have heard so it may not add to the quality of the tune, who ever does the mix can decide i guess
BTW i posted a partial song in member recording called "if i had any feelings" you can find it in my attachments. It may not be anything your lookin for but the way it was recorded it could be used in part, and its in sections. Of course you may want to start fresh and thats fine with me

Ok lads sorry for the delay my bass amp decided to crap out on me so this is played using my strat for a bass line.
First apology is that it is in the key of "A", I hered a similar piece by the yardbirds and it is quite catchy I thought.
The first file is just the 12 bar file patched together using krystal, the drums are not in sequence that is just for anyone who wants to cut some of the samples out to use.
Now add what you want and lets have some fun
