good idea?? or bad idea??

I am learning on a nylon string acoustic. My goal is to someday get a solid body electric($300-400). The choices are just too many and I am nowhere near ready to make that decision or make one do what I want. What I am considering is getting an acoustic electric like the Ibanez Talman ($200-250) . I can begin to play a steel sting guitar without worrying about pickups and all that tech stuff right off. I can even get an amp that I could later use with the solid body. It would kind of be a stepping stone to my ultimate guitar. Is this a good idea or would I be better off just getting a solid body and grow into it?

An acoustic/elec will not sound too good through an amp designed for electrics and vice versa. Your best bet would be to get a decent used electric(with humbuckers for that Creedance you like). and a nice little Roland or Vox amp right off.

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
