Help me make a choice

Well, here I am once a gain undecided and needing help. I think I have made a choice although any ideas would be great. I think I am leaning towards the Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar and Amp Pack or the Gibson Melody Maker Electric Guitar, I do want something that at least will stay in tune for a while. I also was thinking about a Gibons SG although I don't know if my budget of 500.00 will allow it. I think there are alot of nice lower end guitars but because of my lack of knowledge I have no idea what is good or bad other than the prictag telling me. I like the blues sounds as well as getting into some rock and roll such as my all time fav. ACDC and many more. Any ideas arer welcome and don't be shy tell me what you think guys. Thanks and I will be looking forward to some imput.

Just looking at some of your choices. The Epiphone Les Paul Special II runs about $169.00 at GC Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar and more Solid Body Electric Guitars at GuitarCenter.com..
Throw in a microcube for $125 and you are only out $294. And you have a much better amp IMHO.
With a budget of $500 I would look at upgrading my choice of guitar a little and going with a better amp. Not real keen on value packs,,,

  Gibson

Would one of these Melody Makers from the guitar center be considered an upgrade from the other choices, and I don't understand why the Melody Maker isn't on Gibsons sight. Thanks for all of your help.

The Gibson Melody maker would be an upgrade on the Epiphone, the Melody Maker is on Gibsons site but it's one of their designer range a reproduction of the original 1959 models, Gibson has it at $582 what price does it come in at Guitar Center? Here's the link to the Melody Maker page Dagger3000

melody makers can be a bit uncomfortable to play sitting down, I have heard. Someone I knew sent his back for that reason.

Here are some reviews of both guitars from Harmony central Dagger3000, might be a help in making the choice, if any of your friends play guitar take them along to GC with you and try a few as it also depends on what type of music you want to play, hope the reviews are useful and good luck with the Guitar you choose, keep us posted on how you get on.
