I had the earlier version of the 057 before I got my current Ovation, a Standard Elite. I really had a hard time parting with it. It played really well and sounded good. For the money, I think they are hard to beat. Mine was a brown burst type finish. They no longer make that color. But, yeh, I had nothing but good results from mine.

I did a brief search for the red one. Only one other places showing it wanted $299 for the red, but $249 for the natural finish. I would recommend getting a case for it, too. So yeh, the price is good saying the only other two places wanted $50 more. But no one was including the case. The case is approx. $129.

Also, I failed to notice this is a shallow bowl. Mine is/was the medium bowl. So the unplugged, acoustic tones would not be as full sounding, especially in the lows and lower mids that a deeper bowl might have. But if you're gonna be practicing at home, unplugged, and then maybe plugged in for a performance, it should not make a big difference. I've heard the two different size bowl and there was little noticeable difference.

I think at that price, I'd go for it. But I prefer a case. You could get by with a good padded gig bag if you're not taking it out often.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Good luck!

I think one was Music 123.com I forget what the other one was. All I did was plug Ovation GC057 into a search engine and it came up with several selections.
