I need a new guitar
I have no idea what i'm gonna get. It has to be uder $200. My favorite brands are 1. Gibson (Of Course) 2. Fender (It's A Good Company) 3. Ibanez (It's Okay.) And it should be electric. Please send me links. Thanks!

Hi SportyGRocks, All these guitars are under $200, hope it helps a bit, ideally it would be best to try some out at your local guitar store to get a feel for them but I understand that isn't always easy if the nearest store is miles away, good luck with your search.

I'm with starsailor on this. Local guitar stores, as has been pointed out elsewhere on this site, are under immense pressure from the online stores and bigger dealers. A local store is more likely to order exactly what yo want, give you a good deal,(strings, soft case, polish etc.) and set it up for you...which is invaluable.
good luck,
Ian

For under $200 you're not going to come anywhere near a Gibson or Fender unless you find a good deal on a used one. You may want to look at Epiphone and Squier - they're the less-expensive (but still decent-quality) "second line" models from Gibson and Fender.

SportyGRocks. I noticed that you like Gibson, try an Epiphone SG. These are great solid guitars.

SGR, are you looking for a humbucker sound, or more of a single coil sound? Have you considered a Dean? They make some pretty decent guitars for under $200, too. In order to narrow down the choices, we need to know what sound you want, though.

What do you suggest for classic rock, alt rock, with a bit of twang thrown in?

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
