TigerKraws Guitar Update

Its been a week or so since I did a post on whats happening

on my guitar and amp purchase, things have changed since my

first welcome post on guitar for beginers.

Originaly was looking at the Washburn Idol 14 pack and a roland

microcube/cube 20x, and from there as I mention on a recent post

have laybuyed a Vox 30w Valvetronix and a vox footpedal.

in doing so my budget has blown out about $300, but all in all well

worth it.

This leaves the question of which guitar ?

The Washburn pack was still on my shopping list or a Cort x series

or a Yamaha Pacifica was also on the short list.

After more visits to various music shops, and much more research

on user reviews, I have now chosen the Schecter Omen 6, with a

very nice blue color to boot. Its $25 more than the Washburn pack

my budget has blown out again, but I think I have fell in love with

it.

Though its mainly a heavy metal guitar, it can be used for most type

of music, even though it might have a slightly darker tone compared

to a strat. the only negative part from the reviewers is that the

pickups should be changed to a better quality pups.

and some prefer a floyd rose, and some prefer a whammy bar

apart from that its been mostly thumbs up from the guitar forums.

your thoughts on my latest choice is most welcome.

I'll be interested in reading your comments

Thanks for your support

Cool. String through gives you great sustain. A good choice for a first guitar. You will be happy with that.

Hi TigerKraw,
I think you will enjoy your Omen 6.
I have one in Black that I like very much.
They play good, sound good and are a terrific value.

Schecters are nice guitars, and you'll love the Vox AD30VT amp. Looks like you've got a great setup there!

Thanks Everybody

Yes I do like the Schecter guitars, their more elite upmarket guitars

are very good eyecandy with some decent hardware attached to

them as well.

I've also been looking at 3 other models from Schecter but they are

in the next price range up.

Here are some pics

Schecter Omen 6 (the one I'm currently getting)

The Schecter Omen 6 Extreme

The Schecter 006 extreme

And Finally the Tempest Extreme

Thanks for looking

Just got back from the guitar shop, a very happy man

I wanted to look at 6 schecters, mostly the demon, but it was'nt

available, then spotted the 006 Extreme with a free Hard Case

and that deal was too good to pass up. especially with a aussie

price tag of $229.

So all up Schecter 006 Extreme and Hard Case $549 AU

Vox Valvetronix AD30VT $399 AU

So I'm about $450 over budget in all, but I'm Happy I've got

somthing that I can treasure and enjoy learning on.

Thanks everybody for yourr help, next stage is to start learning and

practicing guitar.

ROCK ON

Thanks Allthumbs

I'm glad I'm finally settled on one guitar.
I hope to do some lessons and post some pictures next week
and I still need to get some Headphones so I won't drive the
family crazy. though the first week or so I may be without an Amp
I will have to try one of those software driven PC programs that imitates a guitar amp, till the Vox Valvetronix arrives.

Take Care

Schecters are nice... Seems like you wanna play metal. Do you?

Yesterday was history, tommrow is a mystery, today is a gift. I'm moving on and starting over. There are things that have been done and past. You cannot change what's done but you can change what has not been. I will fall down and I'll pick myself back up again.

Yes I'm planning to do a bit of metal though I'm more hard rock

ac/dc pink floyd etc

I'm hoping the pickups on the schecter will give me some warm tones

without using distortion, with the coil tap feature or pickup selection

should allow me to do that.

I have read on the forums it can produce warm tones, though a bit

darker than say a strat, it should give me a reasonable amount of

music styles, though most Schecters are made as a heavey metal

guitars, it can cut it on a few other music styles.

another option, if this guitar is too metal for my taste, is to change

the stock pickups for a more brighter jazzier type of pups.

But at the moment, it will all be a learning and discovery process for

me. Starting from the very bare basics and many many hours

of practicing. I've always wanted to learn to play guitar most of my

life, and now at the old age of 47 and plenty of spare time, I want

that dream to come true, I realise that it will be a lot of hard work

and will test my patience, but I'm determined to see it through.

It will just take one small step at a time, and practice and practice.

And with the help from forum members here and the beginners guitar

lessons from this web site, plus the added help of doing guitar

lessons from a local tutor, I should be on the right track in learning

the guitar.

Thanks for your help and support, and I hope to be hanging out with

you guys on this forum for a long time to come.

Thanks to All

Time for another Update

Just a matter of days now, will have $500 saved up by tomorrow
night, and possibly an extra $100 by friday. was thinking of making an offer of $500 cash offer for the $549 Schecter 006 extreme & case.

Could be pushing my luck, either that pay the $549 and haggle for a guitar strap and stand. I see how it goes.

Still got $209 to pay on the Vox amp, at $100 fortnight to save looking at another 1-3 weeks of waiting. at least I can strum the guitar untill I can fully pay the amp.

All in all everything is going ok, just need to be patient.

Here some more pics, of what I'm getting.
