Which Cort?
It doesn't have to be a Cort but thats what I keep finding myself looking at. I'm not rich so I am in the mid price range (which maybe low to some).
I don't want a trem, I need a good solid neck. I like slide so want heavy strings, I'm a little paranoid about this as the no-name I have right now has a neck with a tendency towards twisting with 11 slinkys.
I'd prefer EMG's but something very similar will be fine. I like distortion and I like the options that come with the models I'm looking at.
The options I have right now are:
Cort
Cort
Cort
Which one, or should I be looking at another make?

Hi, Tina, I'm not a renowned expert on electrics but I've got a load of reviews and demos together for these, a few of the guys on here have Corts and they are pretty good guitars, I haven't heard many bad things said about them and if your price range is limited these are easily one of the best lower priced guitars.
You seem to like these, have a play on them in the shop or get the assistant to play if you're a bit nervous and see which one you like the sound of best, these guitars are pretty reliable by all accounts, and the ones you picked out have quite a lot of style, there are quite a few links here I've also put a link to an Ibanez with EMG, if you want to check it out and a short video on how a Cort KX custom is made. You should get more replies from Members that have these and some of the experienced electric players who will be able to help you out.

G Series? I'm not keen on trems though. I think my choice will come down to the pick-ups (EMG or Corts own). That is unless someone can spot anything else I should watch out for?

Just a quick Cort question, are most of the cheaper Corts still
good value as a beginner guitar ?
Thanks

I've taken a good look at the cheaper/mid-price range. I came to the conclusion that they were. I also got a recommendation from a pro guitarist which helped. He is endorsed by them though so beware
Also - my decision is also due to a reliable, local shop who sell at very competitive prices (including setups, guarantees etc - face value they don't look cheap but look at the full cost and they are). They happen to be big on Corts.

That would definitely be a positive influence on the decision. An inexpensive guitar that is properly set up and well looked after by a good local shop will be much easier to play and bring you a lot more pleasure than a more expensive, poorly set up guitar bought from a "big box store" or online where you have virtually no support.

The smaller guitar stores are usually very helpful and it isn't always easy for them to compete with the big guys so they need support and they will go out of their way to set you up right as they want you to come back, I would always encourage people to use the smaller outlets as they do actually care about their customers.
Nice guitar Tina, have fun playing it

I agree, also, look at the total cost of the guitar over at least one year. If you have a local independent retail shop, you might then find they're more competitive than you guessed. One of mine is

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
