I want I want I want!

Hi folks
Guess what i want a new guitar(lol) but after reading the comments on this section of the forum im more confused than ever .My own guitar history was a cheap starter kit from ebay nasty instrument but taught me my chords and showed my wife i was serious about playing the guitar (dont laugh im sure we all had to convince our partners about something) next and still is my tanglewood tw28-stusa which i love dearly but i feel its time for an upgrade so if anyone who answers could tell me the 3 best acoustic guitars they ever played this would help for me to narrow down were to look next budget is arount 500 pounds thanks for your help.

elganto,
A little conversion here 500 pounds is about 988.00 dollars. You can certainly have many choices. I do not know anything about tanglewood guitars only because I have not seen any near me.
I assume that you are after an acoustic. Now you have to decide if you want electric/acoustic or not. Then maybe others can help in the mix.

Check out ebay for guitars in that price range. There are a lot of choices. You really have to get your hands on the guitars to pick what is right for you.

Wow, that's a pretty high price range. Your options seem like so many... Yeah, check Ebay.

Elganto: do you already have an amp? If you don't, does the budget of £500 have to get you an amp too? And you might think that getting a pick up already fitted saves hassle - but they are not free, so you won't get such a good acoustic for the money. So if you need to buy an amp too, that will mean that the upgrade from your present guitar won't be so great.

You're not thinking of buying a cheap little amp, are you? Y'know, get a lovely new guitar and a cheap rubbish amp. No.

Unfortunately, the exchange rate doesn't seem to apply to guitars (I've moaned about this before) and that also limits your choice. As you are a relative newcomer, I'd be reluctant to advise you to take chances with ebay.

I'm a proper little ray of sunshine, aren't I.

I think you should forget about the pickups and amp unless you really need them and just focus on a good acoustic. Personally, I like Tanglewood - but if you want an upgrade in the £500 range look at Taylor too. And perhaps Seagull, S&P and Takamine. I'd actually choose a guitar from a range I could buy locally, and I'm not too sure what is available round your way.

When you need a good electro acoustic, buy another guitar. (That's my solution to every guitar problem - buy another guitar) And budget for an amp that matches your needs then.

Have fun. Play loud.
