Making Beats

I would like to buy some software for recording loops/licks off both my acoustic and electric. What would you suggest as a decent bit of software and what cables will I need for plug ins. I deally I would like to be able to make drum loops as well so I can make a simple track
I have a standard sound card, will I need to upgrade to something like an audiophile or would my standard one be OK?

Sorry for all the questions but I am starting from scratch!

Cheers

I use PowerTracks ProAudio from www.pgmusic.com . It can do everything you're looking for and then some. Most standard sound cards are pretty much junk, but you can get some decent sound out of them unless you are trying to get to a professional level of sound.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
