A soulful BT for you
This backing is something I did quite a while ago. Gave it a listen today and I thought I'd share it with you. It is short so you got to get your ideas in pretty quickly!

Great track, Jim. I'll give it shot asap. It's a definite 'follow the chords' kind of track for me, which are (correct me if I'm wrong), basically:
| DM7 - - - | C#m7 - - - | C#sus4 - C# - | F#m7 - - - |
| DM7 - - - | C#m7 - - - | C#sus4 - C# - | F#M7 - - - | ... repeated.
Thanks, James!

Hi Kirk,
I attached a gp5 file for the chord voicings I'm using (primarily the piano part). I think the C#sus4 to C# is spelled G#m11 to C#7. Other than that looks like you nailed it! Looking forward to hearing your take.

Hi Jay,
You followed the changes pretty well if you ask me. Good job. Glad you enjoyed the track.
All the best,
Jim

Nice playing JJ, nocat ... tricky little sucker, ain't it? Keeps you right on your toes. I'm working on a lesson right now, but I'll have a stab asap.

Here's my take. Started with octaves and put some lead work in near the end, finally ending with a short octave phrase.

Here's my electric slide take on this. Done in standard tuning on the Strat. Great track James, thanks again. I could have done a bit more work getting the melody to follow the timing a bit better, but ... what the heck.

Sounds great Kirk! You really brought the changes out with your playing. Excellent take! I really love your phrasing on this. So well tied together and lyrical. Amazing really!
Thanks for another lesson in melodic expression.

Wow! Marvellous takes all. I've just enjoyed an hour at your website Jim, love your music. What you do with that slide never ceases to amaze me Kirk ... and I thought sliding was only for playing the blues! Nice takes too Nocat and JayJay, very smooth. Very professional.
This is way out of my league I know, but I thought I'd give it a try and as you can hear I had a lot of trouble with the timing. When I concentrated on the timing I lost the chord progression and vice-verca ... Oh, well. This is for fun, right?

Is my browser messed up again or is that BT a quicktime file?

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
