Slow shuffle in C

Here's a good backing track to play over, thanks to 'Decca' from the PlaneTalkers' Forum who found it. It's a slow blues in the key of C, a fairly familiar sounding 12 bar progression. Here it is:

| C - - - | F7 - - - | C - - - | C - - - | F7 - - - | F7 - - - |
| C - Dm - | Em - D#m - | Dm - - - | F - F/G - | C - F - | C - G -|

... pretty standard except for those minor chords at bars 6 and 7. They're the fun part.

Here are a couple of takes of mine, one slide version on my resonator, one non-slide on my nylon.

My approach, as you may already know, is to take it one chord at a time, keeping the key in mind of course, but I never think scales ... I would have no idea how to improvise thinking scales or modes. The chords say it all, I follow them. Melody loves chord tones, and I love melody. If you want to know how I follow the chords, you need to read PlaneTalk!

Well, I gave it my best shot... Played it the only way I know how, slow and simple...!!!
Man, this stuff is fun... I could have gone on for another 12 bars. The ending kinda
caught me by surprise...!!!

I drank far too much Irish Whiskey tonight and recorded 2 takes. I will probably hate them tomorrow.

I take those chops! That was really well done.

Sounds like you had fun with them R.B. I could hear auto pilot muscle memory kicking in when the occasional pink elephant wondered by. LOL. Like to hear those again when your recovered and the hangover eases up.

No sharks here bro. You did pretty good with that though I could hear you were a little hesitant to tackle the minor chords in the middle. As Kirk says, break it down into chunks and tackle it a bit at a time.

Hey Gazza (in Australia you'd be called 'Gazza') ... so glad to hear everything is getting back on track for you. That's great news.

Nice playing there, Gazza ...

Nice takes all. I could almost picture myself sitting in a Chicago bar there Gary, back of the clock ... going down slow, lol. Real glad things have worked out for you on the home front.
