Total Cheat this however......

Last night I was unable to play my guitar as the wife insisted on watching "Footballers Wives" last night, and total silence is required as you may miss a tiny bit of the plot...apparently (UK posters will probably understand the sarcasm laced in this post) I wanted to do some work on Allthumbs backing tracks. Therefore the additions of this is courtesy of a royalty free sample CD "Funky Acid Jazz Lounging" and in effect I have had no "musical" involvement in this.

With dance producers and Hip Hop artists in mind - What are your views on this - Do you feel that I would get "credit" as such for putting the additions on - or is is not music? Negative or positive I'm interested in people's viewpoint on this

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this so forgive any errors!!!!

Hi andmore again. The end result was a very nice piece of music, I thought, and well put together. How much personal satisfaction you get from it is a question only you can answer.

John

PS Anything has to be better than watching Footballers wives, I reckon.

Hi, andmoreagain.

I like the backing track ... I'm not sure I understand what or how you did to the original, but it sure sounds nice and full. I also like the guitar playing ... is that you? I wasn't quite so keen on the guitar and sax playing at the same time ... they seemed to get in each other's way, but I do understand you were just experimenting. Cool.

Kirk,

The guitar playing is not me. Other than Allthumbs backing track. Everything has been edited using 4 second samples. So the guitar solo has been cut and pasted rather than played. I agree regarding the sax and the guitar but after 1 hour of cutting and pasting I didn't have the energy to adjust it!!!

Cheers

Ian

Great job of cut and paste... sounded pretty cohesive to me...!!!

I wouldn't consider it a backing track, 'cos everything seems to be there already...!!!

I would rather hear you play your guitar over it but, I suppose you gotta do what you can when your wife has laid down the law. Been there myself with mine. What do you mean by credit. I view your work as just jamming over a bt like any other bt. I personaly wouldn't credit myself with creating the bt no matter how I changed it. The original creatwer might be unhappy to have someone else claim is or her work.

  Thank you for the track

Now I know where this backing track came from. I've had my take on it posted at my Soundclick site for a long time. It is one of my favorites. I will edit the credits asap.

Rico's Take

Peace,
Rico
