Bored? Desperate?
Just something I was fooling with today, thought someone might dress it up a little sometime.

Dear bored and desperate, I just had a quick strum to this - nice and easy chords to follow (not a criticism) and I like the syncopation (I think that is what it was?)...but now I have to stop/rest....bummer
If my research for the perfect Christmas present is successful, I will be branching out into all sorts of non-guitar based music experiments. That is when you need to start copyrighting your stuff

What may I ask is the perfect christmas present? I assume you know I'm married so it has to be something else. Is it a 12 piece orchestra for your closet?
And.... I would be flabergasted with delight if you borrowed something from me.

I did know you were married, otherwise my Christmas plans might have been different........but never mind, there is always music I suppose.
If you really want to be bored out of your mind, the dramas about my hunt for the perfect Christmas present (for myself of course) can be found over in The Home Studio section under the 'Noise and Interference in Recording' thread.
It involves something closely related to GAS that I like to call EAS, or 'Equipment Acquisition Syndrome', or even DEAS (Digital Equipment Acquisition Syndrome) and happens when people (who need to get out more) have things called I-DEAS.......
I must get back to ebay where the quest for the perfect toy is already under-way. Wish me luck!

Dear Bored and Desperate,
your wife sounds impressive and formidable, therefore I would be interested in what some of your EAS's are, as this could be a useful resource for me and other members here.
However, maybe your wife has misunderstood your I-DEAS and you should point out to her that really they are:
I nteresting
D evoted (and/or Dutiful)
E mapathic (to her every need)
A morous (but only when appropriate, because you are also Sensitive) and
S #@*.....................

'Equipment Acquisition Syndrome' Hmmm... I would say that I would like a M-Audio card and a devoted tower along with a 32" monitor, a rack mountable EQ and a multiple headphone jack thingy-majig but alas these will have to wait because I'm putting together some more funds to finish out my garage as a home studio, I still need a furnace and ceiling insulation and a sound booth of some sort...hopefully by spring it will be up and usable.
I hope Santa brings you what you desire....hows the e-way bidding going?

I have been out bid, but I'm watching closely. This is my first ebay deal, but I have thought it through. Its currently $92 but I don't know how high his actual bid is (because of how ebay works). My plan is to put in a higher bid (a reasonable one) about 1 hour before closing and see what happens. If the other guy (or anyone) goes above that, I plan to bid about $200 about 4mins before the end, and hope that if the other guy really wants it, it will take him more than 4 mins to raise his bid (presumably in increments because he won't know how high my real bid is) above mine. I sure hope he is not following this thread!
Does anyone have any better plans to make sure you get it?

That's what I did, Fly. I figured that once I put a bid in I would 'lose power' and just have to sit there waiting to see what the other guys did (= powerless), so I just waited......and waited, then 2 more guys bid, and then about 4mins to the end I put in my 'killer bid' and then only had to wait 2 mins or so, and no-one challenged anyway. I got it today (really quick too) and I've just hooked it all up, and it all works perfectly! Thanks for the tip

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
