Here's some more lyrics Kenny, if it's ok, see what you think, feel free to change and definitely add more.
Verse 1
Spent all my life
In this small town
Down on my luck
Need to change
Gonna’ saddle up
The old steed
I’m off to
Ride the range
Chorus
I'm a Cowboy
Driftin' Cowboy
Like a Tumbleweed
Rolling from Town to Town
Roaming High Plains
Strolling Lowlands
Looking for a place
To settle down
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

There you go Kenny, these are the lyrics I've come up with, might need a bit of tweeking, do they work? Might post on songwriting for feed back?
Verse 1
Spent my life
In this small town
Down on my luck
Need to change
Gonna’ saddle up
The old steed
I’m off to
Ride the range
Chorus
I'm a Cowboy
Driftin' Cowboy
Like a Tumbleweed
I roll from Town to Town
Roaming High Plains
Strolling Lowlands
Looking for a place
To settle down
Verse 2
Well I headed
For a City
Not as Pretty
As I thought
Towering monsters
Filled the skyline
And the people
Didn’t care
Verse 3
Rode down
To the Westcoast
Where the
Film stars
Hang around
Sound and vision
Were a’plenty
But a soul
Could not be found
Chorus
I'm a Cowboy
Driftin' Cowboy
Like a Tumbleweed
I roll from Town to Town
Roaming High Plains
Strolling Lowlands
Looking for a place
To settle down
Verse 4
Now I’ve toured
All directions
Over mountains
Under trees
Swum cross rivers
Rode cross prairies
But nowhere
Can match my dreams
Chorus
I'm a Cowboy
Driftin' Cowboy
Like a Tumbleweed
I roll from Town to Town
Roaming High Plains
Strolling Lowlands
Looking for a place
To settle down
Verse 5
There is
Just one conclusion
To be drawn
From my
Grand Tour
Go back home
To those
Who love me
Where the Air
Is always pure
Verse 6
Where my horse
He can get water
Where my Daughter
Plays all day
Where all the people
Need me
And they
Don’t care
What I say
End Chorus
I was a Cowboy
Driftin’ Cowboy
Like a Tumbleweed
I rolled
From Town to Town
But the place
That I
Was lookin’ for
Was here
In my hometown
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

I enjoyed the backing track. Whether by design or not and whether X4 knows it or not, it has Dylan written all over it.
It's simple. It's memorable. It is NOT ostentatious. It is comfortable. It is an extremely nice place to be. And that is not a bad thing.

cause i did some panning with different degrees of wah.
I hope the lyrics SS posted can fit, and maybe he can try
to add some vocals in

That sounds great TomG, the tune has quite a mellow feel to it, you said you might put some lyrics to it if you've got any ideas you're quite welcome to run with it, don't mind a rewrite on my lyrics either up for anything really, great tune Tom
Best Wishes

First let me say Thanks to Les, what a great compliment to receive, I'm almost speechless...the similarity{for lack of a better word} sure wasn't planned, but I'll take it...Thanks LC.
Tomg, I like what you came up with, but the lower pitched notes are way overpowering in the volume department. Sure has a nice feel to it other than that.

X4, see if this is better, I played all the notes on one track
so i compressed it to even it out
SS, i have no lyrics for this, yours are good and plentiful, so
go for it

That's neat Tom, it just fits so well, pleased you like the lyrics, I've got to mess around with the Lyrics a bit to fit in right, I've Sung the Chorus on the change up hope that makes sense, and it works perfectly, just not happy with some of the verses.
As everyone knows I'm pretty new to recording, I've got the run time based on the lyrics at around 4 minutes, is it possible to have a track that long, I just wondered if it might help you guys if I posted the rewrite it would be easier for you to build the tune round the song, or I can do a verse, Chorus, verse demo so you know where I'm going with the song, I've got the vocal down for the chorus but I'm still working on the verses haven't quite nailed that vocal yet.
Expect the usual low quality recording don't get my new soundcard until next week, the computers spoiling the sound not anything attached to it, If I beg my Son he might let me borrow his, it cost me enough money, I must be a good Dad because I bought him a high spec one for games and I settled for the second rate one
All the best
Chris
