Gentle on my mind
Backing track for - Gentle on my mind.
I wish I knew how to make backing tracks better so there is more room for the guitar work. Problem is that I can play the whole darn tune. Gonna try to improve. May I need to look for samples of tunes so I can develop the style. But here it goes. Hope someone can add to this.

You need to remove the melody so there is room for the guitar. There are no holes to play in the way it is now.

Thanks allthuumbs,
I need to find examples on the net and listen, or try to play the music backround only.
I'll keep working at it. By the way did you ever open the first one ?

Nope. My pc has decided to default to soundblaster and can't find my real soundboard. I am going to have to down load drivers and see if that fixes it. I can't play midi at all.

There are quite a few software programs that will allow you to open the MIDI file so that you have the separate tracks. In this case, you would be able to simply mute or erase the melody track, then render the file to an MP3. I know that I have the ability to do this with PowerTracks ProAudio, the program that I use. I assume you can do the same with most programs that have MIDI support.

Sure, post the link to the original midi file. Only take me a few minutes to do.

cshude,
Chris, tell me what I need to do to take my mp3 saved track so I can send you the file.
I have audacity, band in the box, krystal. It was recorded on a 3.5 floppy on my keyboard.

In order to strip out the melody line, you use the .mid file, not the mp3. I assume you got the song from a website that you could post the link to. From there, I can use software to mute the melody line and render it to an mp3 from the midi file.

Chris, the song is done by me on the keyboard. Yamaha PSR730. It has a 3.5" floppy drive that I record to. Then I put it in my PC and open it with my Ipod software.
Then I can open it in Krystal,or Band in the Box.

Jack and cshude,
Perhaps I can do better backing tracks in the future so others can add their guitar work or mine to them. The only thing I don't play is rock though I wish I could. Unfortunatly,
My accordian lessons were polkas, tangos, waltz"s But I play a lot of easy listening stuff on the keyboard.
I'd love to get in some jams or collabs, if I could do something on the keyboard add some guitar and let others join in.
Jack, try out "Last date" one for the old timers.

Oh, now I understand, eddiez! Sorry about that. Thought it was a MIDI track.
Anyhoo, I'm sure that there will be plenty of takers for your keyboard work around here. I'm lucky in that I can do my own (been tickling the keys twice as long as strumming).
Cheers!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
