How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange
If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar. String action
Hello all.....
Recently I have begun learn slide on an electric & was wondering what type of string height you use.
I backed it off the height a bit & am still able to play up by the PUs OK.
I'm about to lower it again. I raised it to give myself half a chance, now I'd like to see if I can lower it so I can eventually get used to "normal" action height.
Thanks in advance..

You will eventually get to the point where your touch is light enough to play any setup, but it will take more concentration than it's worth to play over really low action IMO.

I am just about to take the brave step of setting up for slide -- heavier strings, higher action etc. I can play slide on low action strings but trying to do the behind-the-slide stuff creates too many buzzes and rattles with low action. I say 'brave step' because I don't know if it will still be possible to play regular lead with heavy strings (bending note etc), and I really like switching to regular lead and back to slide in the same solos.
