How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange

If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar.   My warm April night with the Derek Trucks Band

Well, I've been putting off this thread fro about three months,
on April 8th I went to see the Derek Trucks Band at the Dennis Flyer
Theatre in NJ, it was a great show (hear for yourself with
the link provided below) then after, my friend and I ran
backstage to meet him and as much of the band as we can.

We first met Kofi Bulbridge, who plays the flute and keys,
he was a really cool guy, asked us our names, and we
talked for about five minitues. As we aere talking, out
from another room came Derek, he walked out a bit,
then went back in

A few mintues later and still we were rambling with Kofi
about some random things, Derek came out, and talked
to us like we knew each other
I asked him a lot of crap, he answered, and we
chatted for about ten minitues.

He is such a cool guy, and even better, the band was brilliant,
if you had the chance to see them, even if you never
heard any their songs, do yourself a favor, and go see them.

Two autographs:

And two not so great quality pictures of the show, but you get the point:

Last but not least, the link to the mp3 of the entire show:

Ì bet they sounded great live.
Hopefully they'll come to Australia.
I'd really like to catch em.
Thanks for sharing mwap.

Sounds like you had a good night, mwap ... Derek and band sure were playing well. Is that Derek singing? Which are some good slide tracks? ... my random selection didn't bring any up.

Kirk

I've seen Derek with the AAB a few times. Wonderful player. Over time I've gotten most of his solo records as well.
He just did a cruise/concert in NYC that I sorely wanted to attend, but couldn't reconsile my schedule.
Now I see that he'll be back on LI in November- hopefully I'll get to that show.
Thanks for the report and the pix and link.
Question:
Did he ever smile? That boy needs to lighten up and have some fun! He's so serious!
b.

PS my favorite solo album of his is the first-'Out of the Madness' on the HOB label. Its out of print but worth looking for on GEMM.com. Jimmy Herring, Warren Haynes and others help the boy out on his maiden voyage.

Whoah!
Sonny AND Derek together? Where & when? Please.
FYI
An entire archive of Derek Trucks Band concerts are available for free download at:
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-d...db.php?id=9759

Kirk-Try to download a version of Preachin' Blues and JoyFull Noise. from one of the live shows. You'll dig it.

Derek plays everything in open E, btw.
