How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange

If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar.   Clapton's "It Hurts Me Too"

Does anyone know what tuning Clapton uses on his version of "It Hurts Me Too". It seems to be Open E. I am referring to the cut on his Hyde Park DVD in particular but any info is appreciated.

Thanks

I looked in 3 tab sites for you. They all are tabbed in standard.

Yes I looked up those as well. I don't think that is correct based on the way it is played on the Hyde Park DVD. I'll shed it for a while and see how I make out. Thanks

I asked around and this is what i came up with.

If you're talking about the version from From The Cradle or from the bootleg 'Nothing But The Blues' DVD then it's open-C# (open-D down a half step).

Is he playing it on a great big hollow-body Gibson with pickups that look like P-90s? (they're actually older than P-90s)

If so, it's open-C#.

On the Hyde Park DVD he is playing that bid old Gibson. I am jamming with a friend tonight so I will try it in Open D (on my Acoustic) and see how it comes out.

Thanks again

  On the Crossroads CD

Disk 3, Track 13. He is playing in Open E. I know this is tedious but at least we are putting some activity into this forum (which I think has great potential!)

Thanks

Post a file if possible. I really like the tune - not sure how it will sound swing style - and am going to work it through this weekend.

OK, now that I have it on my CD trainer: The Crossroads version is in Eb (open E down a half) and the DVD is in C# (Open D down a half)
