How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange
If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar. brass slide for dropped d
hi Kirk. I know your dropped d slides won't be ready till next year so I am hoping you can steer me to an equivalent till yours are ready? I have a composit, glass and steel but, their all too light. I can only find the knuckle or six string heavy brass on the net so far.
Glad I found this forum. The posts answered a lot of questions for me. I was disapointed to find out that a cool circa 1920s resonator guitar I bought 20 years ago is considered a lap steel. I wonder if I could put a real fretted neck on it?

Hey allthumbs ... goo d to have you here too.
I have no idea where you'd find a heavy brass slide nowadays. Mighty Mite "Don't Fret" was the original maker of heavy brass slides, but apart form me ... can't help you. Hang in til May!

Hi All thumbs.
Until Kirk's are ready, try one of these:
http://www.therockslide.com/
The heavy brass one is pretty nice, and has a cutaway for the meat of your palm.
I used these exclusively until I found the perfect very heavy glass slide (Nunwell)
Happy sliding

I ordered a dropped d slide from Big D. It's gonna be a beautiful thang. Its' as close as I can get to what I want in brass from Kirk. It is going to be a blast comparing how they sound. Its' totaly custom so it cost 55 bucks with shipping but, I know the sounds I am gonna get will make it worth the money.

Yahoo. I got my new heavy glass dropped d slide. The short length makes it so much easier to fret behind the slide. don't really need to damp hardly at all, it plays so clean. Nice sweet, smooth sound. It has its' place in my guitar case but I will reseve final judgement till I try the brass slide in may. I probably will use both depending on which the tune needs.

I got mine too Ian. Beautiful, thanks so much. It's a smoother sound than the brass, warmer, sounds great on the acoustic.
Thanks!
