How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange

If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar. Hmmmm... wax? could work. What about that Blu Tack stuff? It may have another name where you're from; the stuff you use to stick stuff on walls.

My slide is loose too, but I like it like that. I use the looseness in my vibrato technique.

Kirk

  Coricidin too loose

Hi,
We advise a simple method for keeping loose fitting slides from flying away when in a frenzied 'slide attack'...try some very thin carpet underlay fixed inside your slide with double-sided tape. It's comfortable & soaks up perspiration under hot lights....

Happy Slidin'

Ian.

  loose Coricidin bottle

:!: Easy. "chip" you finger inside the C.C. Bottle slide. bend the end of your pinky so it pushes up against the inside wall of the slide to keep it still. It will sound better if its tight like this too. I have small fingers too, and bottlenecks work better for pinkys. The CC bottles are better for players who slide w/ their ring finger. I make bottlenecks though if ya want one! Just let me know They sound better too bc theyre thicker-walled! Good luck with it

If you want Authentic Bottleneck Slides, I make them; All colors, sizes, Single and Double-cut. I can engrave names, etc. too. prices are negotiable. Call me:(803) 429 8091, email:Sadreamelie1@citadel.edu or AIM: Poolshark547 Slide on!!

  P.S.

...By the way, I wouldnt try carpet or wax or anything, that would very likely dampen the sound! Even if on the inside. you want your flesh up against the glass!! Bend your finger up against it!!!!

Wax doesn't work well. I tried it a while back. Yuk!

I use a paper towel. You might need to cut it down to size a little, but it works well and doesn't alter the tone.

I use a bottle neck, and I like it loose. (On my pinky)
I keep my ring finger against it to stop it flying off.
I've never used a coricidin bottle, but I tried a little experiment to stop my bottle neck from turning around while I play.
If the seam of the bottle touches the strings, it scratches and makes a horrible noise, so I carefully lined the inside with masking tape.
It worked, but it was tricky to do.
(However, I don't like the way it feels, and I don't really need it anyway.)

It may be the answer to your problem though, as a coricidin bottle may be top heavy, and it may try to fly off your finger!
Hope this helps.
L.

I'd rather a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
