How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange

If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar.   Dreams (My Take)

A few years ago when I started digitally recording on a PC one of the drummers from my old '70s rock & roll band (yeah ... we had two for a while) asked me to try to record "Dreams". He reminded me it was his idea for the band to start playing it ... and it was the last song he ever played with the band.

I gave it a whirl ... the recording is not very balanced ... the lead slide part is a too loud. But I still liked the cut. Back when I played this I was using a Les Paul / Marshall combo ... but the Yamaha Semi-Hollow / Boogie do it OK too.

Also this tune is one where I mixed playing lead licks and slide licks ... something Kirk teaches and does with what seems to be no effort. It was always difficult for me to make it seamless.

But anyway ... one the old band used to play ... but a lot better than this ... and with a better singer.

Dreams (Allman Bros)

Appreciate the comments. Again ... not the best recording job ... mix, levels, etc. But my old drummer thought it was cool ... I was pleased I could pull off a request for him. It reminds me too of some specific gigs where we played this song well.
