How to Play Slide Guitar in Standard/Dropped-D DVD by Kirk Lorange

If you really want to spice up your playing, slip a slide over your pinkie and add it to your musical vocabulary. There's no need to re-tune your guitar to an open tuning, just stay in standard or lower that bass string down to D. Kirk shows you how in this 70 minute DVD, talking and playing you through the basics, vibrato, muting, playing single note lines, finding all the chord flavors (they're all there!) and mixing it all into one very neat hybrid style of playing guitar.   Experimenting with sliding (I just started!)

I got inspired to slide after my teacher who i performed with at the school fest yesterday was sliding like crazy! To experiment with sliding, I decided to use a pen cap on my guitar. I'm trying to experiment with various household objects. Any ideas? Any unusual objects you used? My friend one time used a pop can.

Yesterday was history, tommrow is a mystery, today is a gift. I'm moving on and starting over. There are things that have been done and past. You cannot change what's done but you can change what has not been. I will fall down and I'll pick myself back up again.

Anything smooth and hard will do, h_i, but why kid around? Go and get a real slide from your local music shop and get into it properly. They're not expensive.

Tip: get as heavy as you can; while it may seem uncomfortable and unwieldy to start out with, you'll get a much better and bigger sound.

What's the oddest thing you've used as a slide?

I also suggest getting PlaneTalk and Kirk's Slide Guitar DVD.

You'll be, with practice, well rounded with sliding, and guitar in general.
