Is there any reason I shouldn't try to setup an old Mosrite to try to learn slide on? Anything special I should know about before trying it? I'm assuming just raise the saddle, maybe stick a piece or two of 35mm film under the nut if needed?

The action is REALLY low on this thing, you just look at it hard and it frets, I dunno if it was built that way or not, it's a family heirloom and a little older than me (40) that I intend to see back in use, my uncle would appreciate it if he knew and I want to hear it playing again for 'im.

Give it a whirl, lysol ... raising the action sounds like a good idea, although before doing that I'd try some heavier strings. That may be enough to pull it all up a tad.
