  Time for delivery

Hey Kirk. I *finally* got 'round to ordering your book this Christmas. However, I ordered it approximately two weeks before the date, and it still hasn't arrived. Granted, I am in Canada, but this seems like an inordinately long amount of time, even for our postal service... I was just wondering, what's the length of the average period one can expect to wait before PlaneTalk's arrival?

Hi Gravitas ... I think I need to add to my order page: "Canadians -- expect to wait three times longer for delivery than any other country". Why is that? It takes less than a week sometimes to the US or UK; Canadians sometimes wait three weeks, even to main cities.

Thanks for the speedy response. You're right, it is quite the conundrum. My guess is that it's just Canada Customs- they've been quite anal about this sort of thing since you-know-when.

It's more than likely that we'll receive it having been opened and checked for Anthrax (you... wouldn't mail us Anthrax, would you? ), maybe with a service charge, depending on how thorough they've decided to be

Actually the issue is not only Canada customs as getting postal items from Canada also takes months. I hav ordered kites (another hobby) from Canada which on average take 8 weeks to arrive (if they ever do) in Australia. From the US the same items take only 5 to 10 days. So unless customs search all parcels leaving the great white land as well as does that arrive I suggest that canada post is the problem ;-(

Well, in the States they call it snail mail... Picture that same snail trying to get around on a glacier

I have always suspected that there is a 20 ft. speed bump at the Canadan border which accounts for my busted guitars and snail mail speed.

I don't think it's a customs issue because I can send these 'letter class', which means they don't need the customs sticker. I used to have to use the sticker when I sent VHS, but DVDs are classed as 'printed material only' and I was able to dispense with the sticker ... what a great day that was, too! Filling them all in everytime I sent out orders was a real pain!

Well, that's reassuring. At least now we know that, when it gets here, we won't hear "Andwe'rechargingyoufifteendollarsbecausewethought youwereterroristsbutyou'renot"

It'll have been about three weeks on Monday, so if it shows up this week, I'm sure things'll be perfectly fine
