Ok, and in the recording mixer do you have the box for "line in" checked? If the mic input is checked, then switch to line in and that should fix it. Only one of these will work at a time.

Either one will work for recording, but ASIO gives lower latency (shorter delay when recording).

I just checked and I had called it "properties", but it's really called "preferences" in Kristal, so that was a typo... It's fixed now.
So in Kristal, there is a menu across the top called "engine", and the second option down is called "preferences". Then the preferences box opens up and the last option on the left is called "Devices". Click on Devices and that will display a list of all of the audio devices on your computer. That will get you to where you need to be.
