based on some help and advice I received from this guy you probably know KL. I started incrementally moving up gauges at each string change. I started at 11, 12 for a while then two sets of 13's which I liked alot for sliding and finger pickin' and now I'm on to 14's (D'Addario) that's the only ones I could find for less money.
I'll let you know later but the first impression is that they do have a fat tone on the high end. It must be due to mass and contact with the string. They sustain longer. but man were they dirty. My hands got all black by the first time I used em. (no callous on my thumb Kirk and I'm still at it and enjoying every minute (my wife's starting to dig the sound. It helps to have peace at home))
