for me i guess it would be playing while standing up first then singing and playing at the same time
and definitely learning to jam with other guitar players( still to me the very best way to learn to play guitar)

I've gone for getting the strings to ring properly. I find that I don't leave the finger down for the full length of the note (because I want to move to the next fret) which means that the note dies before it should. This results in a 'choppy' sound (ploinky ploink) instead of flowing seamlessly.
I try to overcome this by going over it really slowly so I can see/hear where I am doing it and then try to correct it, but it's a challenge. I also sometimes just try playing the piece faster to camoflage it, but that's really 'cheating' - isn't it?

(The following is just my opinion.)
The hardest part about playing guitar is to improvise exactly what you hear in your head and transcend it onto the guitar.
When you can do that (and not many people can) you have absolutely 0 boundaries in any existing styles of music.

I totally agree with that! I've been struggling with that my entire guitar playing existence. It's easy to get frustrated and either just drop it all and play 'whatever'.

I know it sounds like, "easy for YOU to say", but you can try the trick of playing like you breath. After you count, "1, 2, 3, 4", take a breath before the next 4 counts. It gives you a chance to change chords. Just a thought...

Hm, I've never tried taping my guitar! Is there anything special to it or do you just wrap it up in tape?

Getting any part of my body to obey my mind outside of normal activity is always a challenge, so in all actuality, I find it all difficult. I bet if I weren't so lazy I'd find everything a little easier by now.

Playing one note melodies/lead! I can strum all day long and my timing is good.........I just can't get that lead stuff! I'm working on it!!! And it's not in the poll but I'd say finger picking is a boogar for me, I learned to strum and play with a pick, so I guess getting my fingers to obey would be my other choice.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
