I saw Tom Petty play in Atlantic City a few weeks ago and to my surprise, the opening act was the Hubert Sumlin band. They did a great many Howlin' Wolf numbers (as you might expect) and more than a couple of
slide numbers. Hubert did not play slide but stuck to his signature licks. Unfortunately, I think I was the only one in the crowd who knew who Hubert is. Still, I was thrilled to have seen this legend in person.
