I have to agree with kirk on this one. I am working on my take of it. I find it a lot more fun to take a bt and put my own melody on top. I can't memorize worth a damn so i couldn't play a fixed melody anyway. I have a ball doing a different take each time i play over a bt. I just go where the chords take me. I just finished a toughie that does't really have a clear melody. It is called Martys maiden. It's my take on a herbie hancock tune called maidens' voyage. I was going to try it with
slide but, the tune is all 7sus4s' so the line em ups are mostly on the bottom strings. bummer.
