Everybody finds it hard to play good, clean chords in the beginning - whether you have fat/thin/long/short/clumsy/graceful fingers. With plenty of practice you will find that unless you have sausages for fingers, anybody can play the guitar. For inspiration, read up on Django Reinhardt - he was a masterful guitar player, and had two mangled/partially paralyzed fingers on his left (fretting) hand! He fought through it and became a famous, highly influential guitarist.
