Guitar Building

Wondering if anyone here has built there own guitar and what the results were? Some links would be appreciated.

Probably just a pipe dream but am feeling motivated about it. I've been looking at the 59' Sunburst Les Paul re-issue at the local GC for the past month. All I can do is stare at it. The most beautful Les Paul I've ever personally seen. At 5K+ it's a tough nut besides not playing well enough yet to justify it. I'm mechanically inclined but don't work with wood much.

I bought (and am waiting for the delivery of) a telecaster kit from "torres engineering" the one with the dimazario twang king pups and bluestone wiring setup. Will let you all know how it turns out.

About a year ago, I almost went in for a guitar building course but got put off by the fees.

I'm always interested by anyone that is or has built their own guitars. Gotta see the results guys when you're finished!

Thanks for the help guys, got most of the bugs out of the guitar - some shims under the neck and minor nudges to the neck and to the bridge, viola very playable and nice sounding.

Thanks

Robert

That is unbelievable. I'd buy that in a heart beat. Think i'm going to have to start a savings account just for guitars!

Those sites really helped. Helped me get an interested in DIY guitars lol. But I'm busy with school and such so I can never put aside time. Maybe for my spring break, i may start planning and start building right after my provincial exams in summer break.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
