Hey Dan,
That is a pretty grain on the back. Is that a one piece back? Sure looks like it.
Congratulations. Larrivee make some nice guitars for a nice price. When I shopped for my acoustic and before I wouund up with my Taylor Limited Edition Koa I seriously considered Larrivee for the ease of play of their necks.

Actually, no, it's not a one piece back. It's a two piece bookmatched back. It's my understanding that Larrivee made only 30 of these sapele guitars in the OM version, and 100 total in the various different models they offer.
An interesting tidbit from a luthier friend: The sapele tree (I forget the official species and genus names) is heliotropic....it actually turns to follow the sun. Because it grows on the equator, it has six months of turning North and six months of turning South, hence the evenly sized linear bands. And this thing looks like it's made of gold when it's in the sunshine!
And the sound is awesome. Brighter than rosewood but much richer than standard Honduran mahogany. I can't wait 'till it starts to open up!
BTW, this is my 4th Larrivee and I recomment them highly!

Dan

It's a Larivee OM-03R. A rosewood sweetie!
And I really like that striped ebony fretboard!

Hi Dan,

I notice what looks like a protective edge on a couple of the guitars. What's up with that?

P.S Nice............ :-)

THose are John Pearse armrests. They keep your arm from touching the top of the guitar and muting the sound unintentionally. To mute intentionally, you just move your arm above or below the rest. I got them from First Quality Music Supplies www.FQMS.com

I have them on most of my guitars now. They also prevent sweat stains from my arms during the humid New England Summers.

Thanks Dan! I thought that might be the purpose. I notice that when I play with short sleeves, I leave sweat and stains.
