Unless you are talking about all aspects of that type of playing.. for example types of amps, types of strings, etc. Was just trying to show how complicated it could be if you try to categorize it all, showing that simple is better.
Basically i think it should just be the basic headings like rock, blues, country, folk, jazz, classical, electronica, etc. Then use a seperate one for lead/solo stuff and strumming (maybe just include those within the above).

I'd like to see a country style forum. I played metal music as a kid now I'm trying to learn country because that's what I listen to now.

I'm with you. The playing style/technique will follow on from the preferred music genre IMO.

Hi eddiez152,
I like those also. I really like Ann Murray, George Jones, too many to name! Thanks for replying to a newcomer!

I'm not sure if I should put this here, but ah well
How about you have the styles mentioned (blues, jazz, rock, folk, etc.) and for each, you coiuld have a sub area where members contribute cool chord progressions for that specific genre? This would be especially helpful for the jazz section, as the progressions are so hard to come up with in that area (at least for me!).
I think that you don't need to worry about keeping the music and playing styles seperate. I think that would overcomplicate things a lot.
Music is everybody's possession. It's only publishers who think that people own it.

Now when I talk to God he said he'd understand, Stick by me I'll be your guiding hand. But don't ask me what I think of you. I might not give the answer you want me to.

Someone mentioned flatpicking would be a good one to include.

Blues is great and how to use double stops and partial chords making your music harmonize.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
