There is a programme that claims to do this, costs $99 AUSD, and is crap. The music shop I work for/teach at ordered in a copy, I loaded it up...and it was hopeless.
Tabs and books are great, but start transcribing pieces on your own. Developing your ear is a wonderful thing to do for a guitarist to do. As you work at it you will start to hear chords and progressions without the need to check with a guitar.
I used to put on the radio, and attempt to improvise over any song that came on, or try and work out the chords as it played. Putting those sorts of limits on myself really made me focus and develop my ear.
