Non Guitar Finger Workouts

Ok this is what i do for my pinky and ringfinger exercise when i dont have a axe handy or just when im watchng tv or whatever.I know some prob seen this but i guess some prob havent.I been doing this for 3 weeks now and i def see a difference.Try it at least 30 mins a day i swear you wont be let down. just take a rubber band or like in pics my wifes hair pony(dosent have to be my wifes) that she wasnt to happy about me stretching out but shell live. And i wrap it around the same fingers on each hand till theres a tension. Then i just open and close.i try to do a few hundred a day with each finger.Youll feel it in your forearms also.Just thought id share something that seems to be working pretty good for me.And can def tell a difference with finger movements.I know it isnt anything fancy but hey what do ya have to lose by trying something when your doing nothing but watching my detroit tigers stomp everyone haha.

A friend of mine baught one of these the other day and I must say I think it will work for strengthening the wrist tendons, it is also limited by your own ability so I dont think you can over exert yourself or injur yourself, but I am no doctor...

Actually you can compare a Powerball in motion to a glass of whisky-on-the-rocks.

They are actually quite addictive, just like whisky on the rocks, or like some tune that you cant get out of your head.

I am way brand new to guitar, and this sounds like something I can try...I have said this a few times, but my spirit is willing, but my fingers aren't...guess they wouldn't yet, being only a week into this...thanks for the tip!

  Powerball and lower arm strength

The nice thing about being here is i think lower arm strength will be recieved well! Ive been an advocate for lower arm strength for almost 2 years now and im just starting to take it seriously. I needed to build up hand strength so i wouldnt lose grip on my katana while practicing martial arts. So I started out with the tool mentioned in this quote here and got to a barrier with it. I could crank it up really high but couldnt get it to go faster. So I searched for something better and found this (search for powerballs on google as i have recently joined and not made 10 posts yet so they wont let me post urls). They are better constructed and have a much higher limit! Everyone I hand this thing off to loves it and wants to know where to get one.

As for the exercise with the rubber bands. I just grabbed some speciality rubber bands to improve my extensor strength. You dont want to strenghten the muscles to grip with out strengthing the muscles to extend other wise you will create an imbalence of strength in your hands, which could wind up hurting you more then helping you. I just got the bands recently and was only using them in one motion, I dont know why i didnt think of individual digit use but thanks for the suggestion.

If anyone is interested in other hand strengthening tools let me know. I know of a whole site that is dedicated to lower arm strength!
