PS: Kirk

I also like the sound better.

Thanks for helping me to get my footing. It's been 38 years of no music for me.
Got to clean out the cobwebs.

Hi macmoondoggie

Thank you for commenting ... especially regarding the reverb.
I have heard others say the same.

I am a little confused ... should I use it? shouldn't I use it. I like to create a mellow, soothing, flowing, earthy kind of sound. Do you think I am coming close?

I, humbly speaking, do like the tune as well. It was a spontaneous improv I did as guests were mingling for Thansgiving dinner. The end results .... it seems to please a lot of people.

Hey macmoondoggie!!! You are quite the guitarist. I like Jerusalem Ridge and the Celtic jig. great playing.
Having said that, your comments have great value to me.

Thanks again macmoondoggie

Regards

Thank you for your kind comments. The use of reverb is confusing because it is so subjective, especially with the guitar. On vocals or a violin for example, too much reverb can be very distracting. On the electric guitar it is a matter of taste and the material. Surf guitarist like The Ventures use heavy reverb for their signature sound. So there is no magic formula- just what sounds good and appropriate for the instrument and song. Just keep experimenting and playing it the way you like it.

Pretty well sums it up macmoondoggie ..... Can't give or receive better advise than this.

Thank you. Made my day.

Some nice moments in there John, some parts were very well phrased. I agree with OldG, I think a cleaner tone would work well.

Hi Kirk

Still waiting for PT to arrive .... but first I want to thank you.

I have been staring at the charts (in C) in the PT forum for a few days now ... Last night I started to work the charts with my guitar.

I cannot believe what is happening. In 2 hours I have learnt where more notes are on the guitar neck .... than I ever have before. Couldn't remember them before. Played by ear. NOW ... The neck is looking different to me.

Albsolutely brilliant!!!

I think I see something here ..... and whatever it is it is exciting.

Thanks Kirk

That's great to hear, John. I'm a little concerned that yourt package hasn't arrived yet though. Seems like way too long ...

I've just uploaded a version of this track in a new thread, following the chords rather than scales, played on my steel string acoustic.

Hi Kirk

Thanks for making other arrangements for me to get a hold of the PT book etc.
I'll let you know when it arrives.

I managed to listen to your version of the tune I did - It's about time."
My take on 'It's about Time'

Chord tones .... chord tones... what difference chord tones make.

I loved it Kirk.

I downloded it and play your version and mine back to back. I'm learning a lot just by listening to your approach to the BT and mine.

I'm going to dig out some more BTs and lets jam again.

Thanks Kirk
